Who we are

North of Now is a strategic consultancy and software product studio based in South Africa, operated by Michelle Labuschagne. We build tools for early-stage founders, including Northmap™, an AI-powered business diagnostic platform.

What data we collect

When you use Northmap or submit an enquiry on our website, we may collect:

• Your email address
• Your name (if provided)
• Your answers to the Northmap diagnostic questionnaire (business model, brand, market, team, and founder information)
• Your payment confirmation reference (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)

How we use your data

We use the information you provide solely to:

• Generate your Northmap Diagnostic Report
• Deliver your report and share link
• Respond to your enquiry or support request
• Process your refund if requested

We do not use your data for marketing unless you explicitly opt in. We do not add you to any mailing lists without your consent.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

How we store your data

Your diagnostic answers and report are stored securely via Supabase, a GDPR-compliant database platform. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Transactional emails are sent via Resend. None of these providers have the right to use your data for their own purposes.

Your rights under POPIA

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your information
• Object to the processing of your information

We may update this policy as our services evolve. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.

About Northmap

Northmap™ is a digital information product offered by North of Now. It provides founders with an AI-generated diagnostic report based on their answers to a structured questionnaire. By purchasing and using Northmap, you agree to these terms.

Informational purposes only

The Northmap Diagnostic Report is for informational purposes only. It does not constitute professional business, financial, legal, or investment advice. North of Now is not liable for any business decisions made on the basis of the report. You are responsible for evaluating the information provided and making your own independent decisions.

One report per purchase

Each purchase of Northmap entitles you to one diagnostic report. Your report is generated from the specific answers you provide and is unique to that submission.

Personal and non-transferable

Access to your Northmap report is personal and non-transferable. You may share your report link with advisors, co-founders, or investors for your own business purposes, but you may not resell, republish, or commercially distribute the report or any part of it.

Intellectual property

The Northmap platform, its underlying frameworks, scoring methodology, and all associated content are the intellectual property of North of Now. Your diagnostic report is yours to use for your own business; the system that generates it is not.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved in South African courts.
